Inkday Support
Inkday: Daily Journal needs iOS 26 or later and runs on iPhone.
Contact
Email: inkday@altimany.com
Please include your iPhone model, iOS version and the Inkday version (Settings > About, shown as "Version 1.0 (1)"), and describe what happened. Do not send your journal files unless you want us to look at them. We will reply by email.
Getting started
- Open the app and you land on today. Type in the bar at the bottom and press return to add a bullet.
- Tap the bullet symbol on the bar to choose a type (Normal, Highlight, Idea, or your own).
- Add #tags and [[links]] to connect days. Tap a tag or a link to see everything that mentions it.
- Swipe left or right on the page to change day. Tap the date to open the calendar.
- Swipe a bullet left to delete it (tap Undo within a few seconds) or right to copy it. Press and hold a bullet, then drag, to reorder.
Where are my files?
Inkday saves one Markdown file per day, and your data stays on your iPhone unless you choose a folder. Open the Files app:
- On My iPhone > Inkday, if you chose "On this iPhone".
- The folder you picked, if you chose "Choose folder...".
Day files are in Journal/YYYY/YYYY-MM-DD.md. Pages are in Pages/. In Inkday, Settings > Storage > Open in Files takes you there. You can edit the files in other apps; changes appear in Inkday within a couple of seconds while it is open.
Common questions
Can I move my journal to another location?
Yes. Settings > Storage > change location. Inkday moves the files and asks you to confirm.
Steps, workouts, calendar, photos or music do not show up.
Each is optional and must be turned on in Inkday (Settings > Integrations) and allowed in iOS Settings > Inkday. Steps and workouts only appear if the Health app has data for that day. Photos and music appear only if you have items from that day.
Dictation does not work.
The microphone button asks for Microphone and Speech Recognition access the first time. Allow both in iOS Settings > Inkday. Dictation also needs a supported language.
Search is missing entries after I edited files elsewhere.
Settings > Storage > Rebuild index.
How do I change the app icon, font or theme?
Settings > Appearance.
Does Inkday collect my data?
No. See the privacy policy.
Deleting your data
There is no Inkday account. Deleting the app removes the files stored "On this iPhone", the search index and settings. Files in a folder you chose stay there until you delete them in the Files app (your folder). Full steps are in the privacy policy.
