Inkday Privacy Policy
Effective date: 2026-10-09
Inkday ("the app") is a daily journal for iPhone made by Altimany ("we", "us"). This policy explains what the app does with your information. Short version: your journal stays in files that you control, and we do not collect any data about you.
What we collect
Nothing. Inkday has no account, no sign-in, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. The app does not send your journal, your settings or information about how you use the app to us or to any server we run. We do not sell or share your data, because we never receive it.
Where your journal lives
Inkday saves each day as a plain Markdown (.md) file. Inkday does not sync your journal. Your files stay on your iPhone unless you save them to a folder you choose. You choose where the files are kept:
- On this iPhone. Files stay on your device.
- A folder you choose (for example in Files or another provider you have installed). That provider's terms apply.
The app also keeps a search index and your settings (theme, font, app icon, bullet types, storage choice) on your device. The index can be rebuilt from your files at any time.
Permissions the app can ask for
Every permission is optional. Inkday works without them. You can change them any time in iOS Settings > Inkday.
- Calendar (full access): to show the day's events (title, time, calendar colour) on your page.
- Health (read only): to show your step count and workouts for the day. Inkday reads this data on your device and never writes to Health. It is not used for advertising and is not shared. A Health item is saved into your journal only if you tap "Add to journal".
- Photos: to show photos you took on a day. Cover images for pages come from the system photo picker.
- Music library: to show tracks you played on a day.
- Microphone and Speech Recognition: only when you use the dictation button, to turn your voice into text. Inkday does not save audio. Speech recognition runs on your device when your iPhone and language support it. Otherwise iOS may send the audio to Apple to be transcribed, under Apple's privacy terms. That processing is done by Apple, not by us.
Information read through these permissions is shown to you on your device. It is only saved into your journal files when you add it.
Children
Inkday is not directed at children and does not collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Security
Your files are protected by the security of your device and of the storage location you choose (for example your device passcode). Because we do not receive your data, we cannot access it or lose it on our side.
Deleting your data
There is no account to delete, because we hold no data about you. To remove your journal and app data:
- On this iPhone: deleting the Inkday app removes its files, search index and settings from your device.
- A folder you chose: delete those .md files in the Files app or your provider. They are not removed when you delete the app.
- To clear a single entry or day, delete the bullet in the app, or delete the day's file (Journal/YYYY/YYYY-MM-DD.md).
Changes to this policy
If the app changes how it handles information, we will update this page and the effective date before the change reaches you.
